Borosilicate glass fibre is an all important material which is used to trap and separate solids, aerosols and mist particles from compressed air. It is an extensively used as a state- of –the –art filtering material, the distinct advantage of it, is its high dirt holding capacity at lowest possible pressure drop- thanks to its very high void volume. By design these materials have immaculate capacity to retain very low particle sizes up to 0.3 microns, a size as per the brownian motion principle, particles coalesce itself to be stable by nature. With advent of screw compressors, the necessity for filtering aerosols became imminent, as 90% of the atomised residual oil from the screw compressor were in the form of aerosols unlike the case in reciprocating air compressors.

Necessity is the mother of invention, so goes the adage, and true to this saying, engineering community, devised and used borosilicate glass fibre for filtering oil aerosol forms the compressed air. The principles of direct interception, inertial impaction and brownian motion or diffusion as what it is known as. These principles are intelligently utilised in manufacturing cylindrical filter elements which enjoys its utility in most applications compressed could aspire for.

These cylindrical filter elements are mounted in aluminium pressure die cast housings or carbon steel housings when it comes to employing multiple cartridges to cater to the higher air flows. While the filtered air conforming to the standards of iso 8573.1 class 1 for dust and class 1 for residual oil content is lead to the outlet of the housings, the unwanted oil is drained out at the bottom of the housing through a no loss of valuable compressed air drain, which could be float type or liquid level controlled type or electronic timer based drain solutions

Sanpar industries pvt ltd manufactures microfilters essentially in 5 categories :

PRIMARY PRE FILTER :
SERIES : PPF :
These filters use ss 316 woven pleated mesh to filter particles up to 25 microns.

PRE FILTER :
SERIES : PF :
These filters use cellulose acetate as filtering media and filters particles up to 3 microns.

AFTER FILTER :
SERIES: AF:
These filters use borosilicate glass fibre to filter dust particles up to 0.1 micron and oil particles up to 0.1 mg/m3.

FINAL FILTER :
SERIES : FF:
These filters use borosilicate glass fibre to filter dust particles up to 0.01 micron and oil particles up to 0.01 mg/m3.

ACTIVATED CARBON FILTER :
SERIES : AC :
These filters use the most versatile material activated carbon to adsorb to oil vapour up to 0.003 mg/m3.

Accessories for compressed air filters :

Differential pressure gauge:
These filters are adequately equipped with differential pressure gauges and indicators to ensure that filter cartridges are replaced not too early ; not too late which saves energy.

Drains
Each filter is supplied with an automatic drain to drain off the unwanted oil at the bottom of the housing through a no loss of valuable compressed air drain, which could be float type or liquid level controlled type or electronic timer based drain.

Condensate Level Indicator
This enables to have a visual inspection of the condensate accumulated at the bottom of the filter. This monitors the drain’s performance or to know when to drain-off, if in case the manual drain is fitted.
